On January 12, 2010, a massive earthquake struck near Port-au-Prince. Hospitals, schools, and prisons collapsed, trapping thousands of victims inside. The early death toll was measured in the hundreds of thousands, with clean water, food supplies, and public health facilities destroyed or contaminated. Director Fisher Stevens travelled to Port-au-Prince to view firsthand the fates of the peacekeepers he had befriended in September 2009 while gathering footage for the UN concert, A Tribute to Peacekeepers. With a small crew and bins full of crayons and coloring books destined for orphaned children, he returned to Haiti and beheld an unparalleled humanitarian disaster.
