Sal: Outside Cat on the Inside...

Sal is a neighborhood cat that comes to my house regularly for breakfast and dinner. He was an inside cat at one point since he is declawed, but his owners moved without him! Sal does have a more permanent home and does sleep indoors. I had him in the house this day and he was so jumpy! His constantly freaked out looks made me laugh so I grabbed my camera....

Please, if he is declawed, take him in! Oh God, I have two cats who belonged to neighbors, but were 'outside' cats and the one cat was nearly torn open by dogs--a 1 am emergency vet trip--and the other was hit by a car, another emergency vet trip. They are both inside with 2 other cats. This cat WILL get hurt if he is declawed. My cat survived the dogs only because he had claws to hang on to a tree before we got to him, and he was torn open already!

Sal does live with a family down the street and I would take him in in a heartbeat if I could. My cat is not very tolerant of him even being outside the window where he can be seen! My cat, Monkey, has claws and would probably do Sal some harm if he saw him in the house. Monkey is in renal failure and we're keeping him well enough but when he passes on, it will be safe for Sally-O-Malley boy to come in for good.

Yeah--it's difficult with male cats. We have one male and the rest are female. When a new cat is introduced, there is always going to be fighting at first, but then they settle down. I've had multiple cats as pets for years. But with males, the introduction of a second male encourages urine marking. My mother is moving in with my brother and he can't stand pets so her male cat has to go up for adoption and it kills me, just grieves me, but with one male and three females, it is just too much.
