I've had several people ask me how I recorded drums and cymbals separately for this album so I thought I'd put this up. Unfortunately, it's not the best camera and this is the only cymbal track that was recorded but at least it's a record. We decided that we wanted to have huge, rich-sounding toms and cymbals without heavy gating and processing, like older rock bands, but still retain the precision that speed/metal requires. Tracking separately seemed like the answer. Overall, I'm happy with the results and believe that the headache of playing everything at least twice was worth it. Not sure this is the take that was used on the album, but I tried to match up the audio with the video and it seems close enough.
