  • I always think it's interesting to know that big bands like Harry James', and Glenn Miller's as well as some others, had string sections that weren't limited to a guitar and a cello. These guys had violins, and they used to great effect while still maintaining that swaying feeling these guys were famous for. Here, they kick in around :39.

  • @Mcoov I personally loves strings. They're so beautiful and can be used in a variety of ways. :)

  • Hope you all have been enjoying the music. I'll try and upload more soon. Thanks for stopping on by!

  • Helen Forrest was the best female big band singer of them all!

  • Yeah, she was great.

    :)

  • WE SHOULD INCORPORATE A "COUNTRY" WHERE ONLY MUSIC AND CUSTOMS FROM THE 40's EXIST, PERIOD. I'M QUITE SURE WE COULD FILL IT UP.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THAT SUGGESTION???. B.

  • In what years was this song recorded and released by Harry James & His Orchestra with Helen Forrest as vocal?

  • oops,I was reading the post about the train so if I could board that I'd love to get off in the big band era.Of course it would have to be a time traveling A Train.

  • @pendragonshaw

If only...and if this kind of music came through the speakers it would be first class all the way.Where do I board?

  • 11,000 people made it to apple blossom time. 23 of them changed their names.

  • @pendragonshaw Love the music, and period, but I think you are over romancing it a bit. There was a war on and rationing, there was no health service or the advances in medicine and technology we take for granted today. No! A great place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.

  • the best version ever!!!!!

  • This was the theme of my senior prom. Man does it bring back memories and tears. All our great band leaders and artists are gone. What a great era for us.
