Imperio was born in Buenos Aires. Her father was a flamenco guitar player from Gibraltar, and her mother was a Spaniard from Málaga.

Thank you for sharing something so beautiful. I love the crackels of the record.

Stunning! And a Happy New Year to you.

Thanks for this! I had the version by Celia Gámez, recorded in 1932, but this one is also very good! Imperio Argentina recorded 'Guitarra mía' in 1932 for Spanish Parlophon, B 26.079, with 'Recuerdos chilenos' on the other side.

Her passionate singing is thrilling, and the guitar theme illustrations are pretty. Felíz año nuevo everybody!

Hi Grzegorz - Imperio Argentina looked and sang like a special Spirit of Tango - even though her Tango dancing abilities are not as widely publicized. At any rate - mucho gracias - her voice and delivery - are both - super!!!

Thanks Lana! She is one of the masters of singing of the XXth century in Europe. My Father loved her voice, I think yours did too. All European guys the 1930s were mad about her. Her records sold like wine.
