I can just imagine a movie being filmed somewhere in LA when Discovery was coming in....BOOM BOOM "aaaww CUT! CUT!" "What was that noise!?" "Cant they see im making a movie here??"

@treelizard99 I Believe it is vapor trials coming of the tips of the wings because of the speed its going. I could be wrong.

@TheFutureIsRightHere No it is not. Regardless of how fast the craft is going as long as it is supersonic it will make a sonic boom. The boom is all the sound that the craft is generating piling up and then hitting you all at once.

Ah yes, the sonic booms. They were kinda loud when they past over orange county, but most likely less loud then when they passed over the Los Angeles area.

Yes,
as the space shuttle breaks the sound barrier, the sound waves are pushed together. At first, you hear nothing, and then you hear the sonic boom.

The sonic boom was incredibly loud here in the Tujunga-Sunland. :)
