Dale Hunter cheapshots Pierre Turgeon

The final game of the 1993 preliminary round playoff series between the Washington Capitals and New York Islanders. Pierre Turgeon steals the puck from Dale Hunter and scores. Incensed, Hunter follows Turgeon as he celebrates his goal, and runs him into the boards from behind. Turgeon ends up with a separated shoulder and will miss the next playoff series. Hunter is suspended 21 games.

I've never forgotten what Hunter did to Turgeon. If I'd been at the Coliseum that night I swear I would have gone over the glass at the runway to get my hands on him. And it makes me sick that over the years the tough guy culture of this league does nothing but praise Dale on his character and toughness. It's all I ever hear. What would take real guts is to call him out on this, but I never heard anybody do it

@BBQFanNo1 That's the mystery, isn't it? Why wasn't Hunter suspended for at least a year, and Bertuzzi for life? I cannot look at Bertuzzi without getting angry and wonder why the league did essentially nothing about that incident. The NHL suspended him for a year, the year of the lockout, which meant nothing. He destroyed Steve Moore's career. There is no atonement for players like him or Hunter.

Hey Hunter, no one told you to set up Turgeon with a perfect pass!!..you idiot!! Great the Isles bounced back and beat the Pens., but this could have cost them the cup which is even a bigger deal today considering this is the last year the Islanders won a playoff series...nearly 20 years ago. It's funny, this team felt like a step down from the teams that came before in the 80's, but if you look at the team stats, the team was pretty nasty
