This June 11 2007 monthly meeting for Lanark Village Water & Sewer District shows Barbara Rorhs comments on the role of Robert's Rules of Order at district meetings. Attorney Brian Armstrong from Tallahassee's Nabors Giblin and Nickerson is credited for telling Ms. Rorhs she does not have to use the customary meeting guidelines.
Audience questions:
What is to be said about these comments?
What would we do without them?
I would be interested to read the bylaws of this district.

I agree. Unless the group votes to not follow RO, if the normal order of business is to follow it, then RO must be followed.

Voting to overrule Robert's Rules of Order while possible, is not practical unless another set of rules is adopted.
Without RO, how many votes is required to be authoritative?
What are the rights of the minority?
How do you assure that everyone has a say in a meeting?
Who has authority to act on behalf of the group?
