violetta in this clip can only be described as a "vocal freak" her lower register is plebian but her power notes are supersonic- despite the fireworks I sensed a detachment from Violetta and the entire aria was like watching a gymnast go for the gold on the pommel horse-

This performance may have been the zenith of her career. For nearly thirteen years since this debut, she is still "sola, perduta, abbandonata" in Verdi's Paris. Although she sings a few other roles (Luisa Miller being a somewhat notable one), she seems to be stuck with La traviata. I believe the ovation at the end is more for Kraus than for Burato.
This is also Kraus last Traviata...

Burato's rendition is really good. Kraus also unbelievable. He sang High C in the middle part and he was 67 years old!
