Paul Revere and The Raiders recorded and released it as a single in 1966. The single was a number one hit in Canada, and reached number four in the United States. It was considered one of the earliest anti-drug pop songs.

  • When I was a little kid in the early 80's I saw Paul Revere and the Raiders at The Riverside Resort Hotel and Casino. Paul Revere threw twinkie to the audience but sang to me and gave me a box of twinkies! It was one of the best concerts I went to as a child.

  • One of the best music vids of all time. These were real artists that didn't need to autotune. Gawd, what crap is being fed to people today.

  • @Beatleluver1234567 , I had a huge crush on Phil "Fang" Volt when I was 13 years old. ;+)

  • saw them perform in Bham Al in 1967 GREAT!!!

  • neat 60's lookin guitars

  • At 1:33 the horse said something to Paul !

  • Lol, it looks like the "painter" is painting by number...

  • I met Mark Lindsay at his restaurant's opening in Portland OR a few years ago when I was doing a concert with the Electric Prunes. I was surprised at how tall he is, must be 6'6 at least and thin!

  • @reg5381 You my friend, are totally right. They wore the wrong clothes. Unlike the Young Rascals who shed their knickerbockers early on, the Raiders stuck with their colonial costumes a few years too long, and for that reason alone they've never been taken seriously by the fools in the rock music establishment. Absurd but true.

  • I've got Fang's autograph!!! -3
