SINGAPORE: The Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) has introduced five more candidates for the General Election.

They are Mr Mohd Isa Abdul Aziz, Mr Sadasivam Veriyah, Mr Tan Jee Say, Dr Ang Yong Guan and Mr Gerald Sng.

Mr Mohd Isa Abdul Aziz is SDP's first Malay candidate. The SDP says he has over 30 years of grassroots experience. He is currently a business development manager for an Australian oil and gas company.

Mr Sadasivam Veriyah, a retired teacher, is SDP's first Indian candidate. He has served in the grassroots organisations of Ayer Rajah constituency under former PAP MP, Dr Tan Cheng Bock.

Mr Tan Jee Say is an investment adviser. Prior to joining the financial sector, he was with the Administrative Service for 11 years, including five years as a private principal secretary to then Deputy Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong.

Dr Ang Yong Guan is medical doctor. He served as a psychiatrist with the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) between 1986 and 2003 and retired from the SAF as head of psychological medicine. He is currently in private practice.

Mr Gerald Sng is SDP's treasurer. He has been active in politics since 1999. He is a marketing manager in a human resource company.

In all, SDP has introduced 11 candidates for the coming polls.

Nine of the candidates will be fielded in the two GRCs of Holland-Bukit Timah and Sembawang.

The remaining two candidates will be fielded in the Yuhua and Bukit Panjang single-member constituencies (SMCs).

  • Great speech Sir. I am unfortunately a european and cannot vote or you would have got mine! I hope Singaporean are going to boot this arrogant and out of touch PAP party out. It is about time Singapore moves forward and into the 21st century.

  • Justr checked..it's Tan Jee Say, without the Dr.

  • I read (ST) that when approached by SDP ppl, a man answered them that he would never vote for the SDP as long as Chee is there. I think so too that Michelle Lee, Dr Ang, Dr Vijaysingham (hope I got his name right) and Dr Tan would garner more votes from the ppl if the Chee names aren't in.

  • @DarneyScalet There is nothing wrong with CSJ, you are fooled by the newspapers who defame him as crazy. If you think he is, why don't you do a bit more research here in youtube and external websites, i think SDP has the best speakers in this election, would love see them in parliment.

  • @fuckliao See Otelli Edwards at

  • @rhapsonia I'm really not surprised. I personally am not convinced by him. And I'm wary of those with military background in general. Also, the medical, especially mental health care professionals in Singapore lack empathy. That is my impression anyway. If the SDP team consists of mainly characters like Ang Yong Guan, then I may well vote for the PAP.

  • Singapore need to give money to USA for "survival" because USA (International government) need to invest in Israel and Egypt. Zionist control the banking system and soon the world. Secondly, No point the money without resource so Singapore need to be close with China even though you should know many do not want communism. Both are for survival for now. The only party I'll join is the messiah's party when.. Jesus pbuh

  • they should have joined the workers party, i dont trust SDP cos of CSJ he seems like a pillock to me.

  • Stewardship is the ultimate attitude.... be a good shepherd, a true servant for the people, to the nation; promise is promise, will you guys sacrifice in the fullness of time??? Easier say than done, empty vessel makes more noise! May God bless u n family.
