  • That's interesting Geoff.

I grow 'dwarf' lady finger bananas ... that are much easier to bag & pick... as the trees are only 1 1/2 M high. The bunches have up to 80 on them. I'm south of you in the Caboolture district. I have a few varieties of tomatoes that we're picking and eating now. As well as several varieties of blue berries.... YUM :)

    Cheers!

  • @oo1Brian Thank you Brian, that sounds great, I'll have to come down & grab a sucker. My bananas need a bit of attention. I just did a garden update a few days ago. I didn't focus much on the bananas. I have a few more things in this time. I'm growing rhubarb, red onions, golden shallots, purple carrots & romanesco broccoli, all for the first time. Plus a mulberry tree. I think I'm too late in the season for the romanesco. I grew it for the spirals. Anyway thanks again, cheers mate..

  • any aussie gardeners from the mallee wimera area, give me a bell love to hear from any one in this area thx

  • @stylus880 Hi there, i'm in s.e. qld.,on the sunshine coast, if that's any help. There's the produce garden (christian), i think his name is, somewhere in victoria, i think. anyway keep in touch, take care, cheers from jeff

  • @mugsyjeff Gidday M8. Thx for the reply Just starting out with this gardening (vegetables if you can't eat it why grow it) craze. It sucks you in. In the process of building raised garden beds and establishing the soil required for them. I have five 1 cubic metre compost bins going and can't keep up to the amount of soil/compost mixture required to fill the raised beds. Hopefully in a yr or 2 can put up a video to match yours. Thx again Think green grow veges and eat the buggers

  • @stylus880 Hi there, now I know where you are, I hope it all goes well for you. I'm with you "if you can't eat it, why grow it?". I just came in with dirt under my fingernails.Harvesting some spuds, then planting some pak-choy, red onions, red leg spring onions & some more spuds, they reckon there's rain coming. Anyway I'll catch ya later, take care, hooroo.

  • @sadia102 Thanks fspm, i wonder how they'd grow in a hot house, but it's time to grow spuds now. sweet potatoes wont grow much here in the winter, i wont put any new runners in here till spring. Someone introduced me to the pink eye potatoes, apparently the tassie potato growers favorite. so i've been growing them. i need to get more to plant this year. anyway, take care. cheers

  • Lady finger bananas...oh, I so miss them. Bananas are so expensive in Tassie. I am trying hard to get sweet potatoes going but I think it is too cool here. More spots to try though.

  • @aus2045 Hi there trent, great to hear from you, all the way from emerald. Wow, you deserve every success. Once you get the soil in, you should be right. I have a few recent uploads with spuds & a few other things, cooking, bee-keeping. I'm a commercial line fisherman out of Mooloolaba, I have a few fish related uploads. If you check out my list, you might find something else of interest. Anyway thanks for that Trent. I hope your garden goes well. cheers.

  • I wish i could garen like this. My yard is 100% rock. Unable to dig, just like concrete. I have raised beds, and import garden soil from 700kms away.
