A portrait of a boy on a wooden panel, as an oil painting demonstration from start to finish. The soundtrack is from a circa 1913 Victrola playing an acoustic recording of the same period.

  • Thanks kryptoncolomo! This painting measures 14.5 x 14 inches (37 x 35.5 cm).

  • Heeey, that painting is at PAFA! :)

    (I'm currently a student there)

  • Hi foxaylibrarian! Is my painting still displayed outside the library entrance? This painting has been purchased and added to the PAFA Fellowship (Alumni) Collection, so obviously I was also a student there. Great School! I wish you all the best in your studies. Thanks for making the connection.

  • Question: Did you really paint on unprimed wood? That's what it looks like. Was it varnished?

  • Yes, the panel was primed and sealed; good question. The oil paint did not sink into the wood.

  • This painting has won awards. It's the real deal.

There are still artists in the world who can paint very well. Just because you can't do it doesn't mean it can't be done.
