Background
ITV Sport also needed a new brand due to the ITV network re-brand project.
Challenge
The brief was to create a new ITV Sport brand to unify their sports output (inc. football, boxing, F1 and Tour de France) under one strong banner across ITV1 and ITV4, and stand out from the competition.
Solution
Our solution built on the network identity unveiled across the ITV family of channels in January 2006. The new ITV Sport brand is classy and bold and uses simple, clean graphics in a more intelligent approach to typical sport branding. Black and white are used as the core palette which allows the natural colours of each sport to shine out as the hero. An individual highlight colour is then also applied to each sport to emphasise relevant information where required (e.g. yellow for football, red for boxing…etc). The design system uses the bracket device from the overall ITV network brand to trigger all on-screen.
Outcome
Head of ITV Sport Mark Sharman was extremely pleased with the re-brand and the ITV Sport graphics team embraced the new approach across all output.
