Grab your crochet hooks, any size you want, and grab a cross stitch or filet crochet chart off the net, work with as many colors as you can manage (two is easiest... more than five could make you go nuts, but is doable), and let's get going, making one reversible afghan, scarf, baby blankie, doggie blankie, place mat, etc., after another. No wrong side, no hanging ends, no cutting or knotting, no weaving in ends, no messin' around, just all fun and lots of room for unleashing your creativity! P.S. Make sure you see part three of this video so you have all of the info needed to do this.

This is a great thing to do when you just can't play anymore banjo!

  • Awesome!!! I like the design better that you have on your sofa. Could you tell me what is that design? Where could I find design like one on sofa? You are very smart and I am thankful for people such as you who teach all of us. You are wonderful!!! Thanks for showing me how this is done!!!

  • @remnant3333 Hello... yes the design was from a Canadian Website that had a fair aisle sweater pattern on it... I don't remember the site now and can't link from youtube anyway, but it was a very small portion of the fair aisle graph that I used to make squares and crocheted them all together. Small portions of any Fair Aisle graph would make neat little squares to sew together for a blanket.

  • I like the varieted look it gets when you carry the yarn. It looks nice and makes it look like you worked extra hard on it :P

  • @pandagirl4561 LOL... always good to make it look like you worked harder than ya really did!

  • Hi GroundhogPeggy--I would like to crochet a reversible picture afghan. Watching your technique -- I get it! :0) Thank you for sharing! The picture on the afghan that I would like to crochet is outlined in black (1 square). Should I carry the black yarn throughout the afghan or cut each time?

  • @mycrowningglory When I've done designs with an outline, I've carried the black the whole time...for me that's a lot easier than having to cut, weave ends, etc. If you can get to my blog from my Youtube Channel, I have a March photo of a rubber-duckie afghan that I outlined in orange... but whatever color, I find it easier for me to just carry that along with the rest. Good luck with your afghan project! GHPeggy

  • I just found your video because of a shout out on Bobwilson123-Youtube-Crochet-Channel facebook page. Awesome work. Can't wait until I can give it a try.

  • Thank you so much. This was very helpful.

  • Sorry to repeat this but....can you tell us how your husband made those design charts for you? i would love to make my own also.

  • @aswaffor Hi. Yes it's very easy, but time-consuming and gets tough if you try to use more than a few colors. Normally I have to tweak graphs I find online to work out for me, size-wise and color-wise to make my afghans. I try not to exceed 60-70 stitches or so on the graph for most afghans, and try to keep it 30-40 for kids' afghans. That means I either find small graphs or tweak them to fit what I want. Good luck with yours. Can't wait to see pictures! The dogs sure are a big help! Peggy

  • if you want it to be larger picture than what you have there...do you just keep adding by 3's??
