1. "What do you look for in a perfect pen?"

2. "If I had a pen that could deliver those aspects you seek in a pen, would you buy it from me?"

3. "What price would you like to pay for such a pen?"

Pretty simple. If the anser is no on point 2, don´t proceed further. If yes, proceed to question 3. If the price is high enough for you to make a profit, sell. If not, do not sell. Simple.

1.) yes, i use a pen for signing documents and occasionally writing notes.  as long as it works, i'm fine.

2.) i have a pen that meets those needs....

this is an old, tired exercise... unless i am allowed to add a condition, like the prospective customer is currently using a quill and ink, this exercise is pretty useless...pens are typically commodities with no unique value..everyone has them and there is very little distinction... the best answer would be, "who the hell in their right mind would want to sell pens?"

1) Do you use a pen in your business? What do you use it for? Is there anything particular about a pen that you need?

2) If I could provide to you a pen that met those needs, would you move forward and buy it from me?

If yes,

- what price are you comfortable paying?

If no,

Why not?

3) What is your budget for this pen? Sell it if the pen is profitable. Straightforward.
