Its only 33km up, there's still enough atmosphere to provide a whistle.
Its very thin up there, but the atmosphere is still there.

I dont think it is km it is meter!

Should change the name of the video. Not km but meters. But your vids are still awesome.

At some points the earth looks flat. :)

@Jsoli123 GPS work at high altitudes, up to medium height orbit. GPS receivers often flying on low-Earth orbit satellites.

its really strange how it gives some strange sound noise. There is no atmosphere lol the nature is bugged :D

I would like to see the fall till the end

Fantastic!

Do you have any idea how i can track a high altitude about 35km without radio signals? This u-blox works only with radio or they can also just tracking? I search somthing to see my exactly high. Something like a presure measure? Thx very much

Do you have any idee to track a altitude high about 35km without radio tracking? I ve just a small budget. I dont now yet what can i do. This ublox 5 works just with radio its not possible to use them without? Thx very much
Can you say me the exactly model from this u-box receiver and the cost? And whats the max altitude how the u-box can track? And its tracking to memory gard or with radio? Thx

@Jsoli123 This flight had the ublox-5. Newer payloads use the ublox-6 NEO-6. We've tracked using this module up to 40,575m.
On some payloads we log to SD card. On others we have a FLASH chip to log data to instead of the SD. In all cases we transmit over radio.

hei that is really awesome. How did you know the high from the ballon excatly? I think gps is not still working at 18km? Did you have a presure messure? Great wish from Switzerland.

@Jsoli123 Thanks!
Our GPS works fine above 18km. We're using u-blox receivers, and they appear to maintain lock all the way above 35km.
We have flown boards that have a pressure sensor, but haven't got any good data yet.

this is where I freakin wanna go! How much was the budget for this balloon :)?

@singular23 It varies depending on how complex (and how many) payloads we fly. Generally the BOM (bill of materials) for the payloads is below $100, and then it's the cost of the latex balloon, the helium, and the little bits and pieces like string, duct tape, foam boxes and batteries.
So a cheap launch could cost us about $350 in parts. Plus then you have to put petrol in the chase cars, have all the tracking gear, etc.
