This video gives you a snapshot of why the world needs nurses. Nursing is possibly one of the most important professions in the world. Yet, nurses continue to be undervalued by so many. This inspirational video will throw a new light on this wonderful profession. Produced by Ausmed Education. Please note, all comments are moderated and those considered to be abusive, defamatory or discriminatory will not be published.
*As a number of people have pointed out, it should say fewer nurses not less nurses between 0.56 and 1.03 in the video. Apologies for the mistake. We hope it doesn't lessen your enjoyment of the video.

I don't know about Australia and other countries but in California registered nurses earn 120K for working 40 hrs per week. Yeah, that's why I work here and not anywhere else!

Anyone who feels nurses are overpaid is sorrily mistaken. I would never presume to judge whether someone in another profession was over/underpaid without having personal experience or first hand knowledge of what it takes to do their job, and the different ways in which the demands of that job impact that person. Society needs a better, more realistic understanding of what it takes to deal with a demanding profession like nursing.

Well actually in my country Costa Rica we are over nurses. We are some many! And there's no job for nobody. We are like a plague.

I wish we got $120kpa, not here in Australia. I am a critical care nurse, who doesn't work with respiratory therapists, or physician assistants. We are underpaid. i am afraid that by the time we are paid accordingly, I will be too old and crippled (maybe ;-)), to nurse anymore....

Shortage of nurses? They should probably rephrase that to 'shortage of nursing grad positions' Universities are pumping out more than enough nurses to compensate for the nursing shortage however, less than half of them are gaining employment after graduating!
