The Portrait of a Border Collie, Farewell to Lady Reckless

She was everyone's dog, and had more than enough love to share with friends and neighbors. At the time of her death, she was surrounded by all who loved her.

As she matured, she was known as Lady Reckless because of her noble and gentle soul.

As I embark on writing a book about her life, and the people that she touched, I find myself having a difficult time just getting through each day without her.

During her last week, we were grateful to have a Karunda bed. She was transported from her room of choice like a queen on her litter, and we were happy to do whatever she wanted.

From 1:52 on was photographed and videotaped the week of her death, the last few photos were taken the day of her death.

Tinsel Town, my other Border Collie seriously grieved for at least week, and refused to eat. She recovered, and then fell back into depression again. We are doing everything we can to keep her going.

My Lady Reckless, she died of old age I suppose. But her death launched my rescue of the breed, The Dog Liberator, so I can save gorgeous dogs like her.

My dearest reckless, you have brought me to a new place... it's called Rescue. I love you, and because I love you and miss you so much, I do what I do... rescue other gorgeous animals just like you. I'm making so many families happy, yet, I think about, and miss you everyday.

I am so sorry for your loss, I have a Tri-colored Border Collie, My second in my short 31 years, I also have a Lab too. Neither one understands why I'm hugging them tightly while tears roll down my face. Borders are so smart, it doesnt make it easier when it comes to "Goodbye" they know us so well that they understand you are sad. And yet we rejoice that the suffering is over, and they will be on the porch in heaven waiting, 'till our day is here to come home.

My dear Reckless, I continue to miss you, yet you've been gone for 6 months. I have rescued and rehomed so many border collies since I had to say goodbye to you... I feel it's the only way I can give back. plus, it keeps me busy! I miss you, we all miss you, there are so many good dogs out there that need help. You taught me so much. I hope you are there waiting for me when it's time for me to join you. We'll play again.

You should have froze lady reckless using cryostasis so that you can bring her back to life in the future or clone her! Or just get a new dog, I know it wouldnt be the same, but im sure there are a lot of dogs like her that act much the same. It is a nice tribute, hopefully someone posts a tribute to me when I die, but I doubt that'll happen :(

I lost my Border Collie last week and it's just dreadful without her. They are beautiful dogs and I swear mine knew what I was thinking. I can't believe she's gone. I miss her so much.

Awe She was awesome! Sorry to hear about the loss... its to bad our faithful friends could not live longer... 10-17 years just is not eenough... Im dreading when my Rottweiler goes... Shes only 2 though but it seemed like only Yesterday I got her.... And I have three other dogs. Exodus (15 months old another Rottie) Enigma and Panda. Which are Akita mix and one Bernese Mountain mix. they are just pups but I love dogs and this vid made me cry and feel your pain.

I rescued several Borders on trips to the mainland. They were turned in to the shelter because the previous owner was inept and didn't know how to train them...God bless you, and you knew that all dogs go to heaven, right? Where do you think their saviors go?

I worry for my aunts dog phobee now, from her old age.(7 years old)

It's been over 3 and a half years and I still think of him every single day - my dearest border collie-sheltie mix. The end of this video was so familiar to me. My dog laid down in the grass during his last hours of life and the sweet breezes blew over our souls.
