Give me a person with common sense and perserverance. Some of the most ignorant people I know are college graduates. An education does not mean intelligence, much less the ability to work with people and accomplish goals.

@SoundMaster24942 For real. I highly doubt he will have a mohawk when hes applying to a management position, but then again it all depends on the job.

As America enters a generation of stupidity and apathy, (I'm guilty of apathy, btw) education becomes FAR more important over time! Every time a teen roles his or her eyes, it's merely a signal that says that they need more work. They obviously need to learn the material. I could care less if you want to respond to that text! Just put the person on hold! Your brain is so rotten, it's GREEN matter, not GRAY matter.
All in all, it's essential to this generation. Just don't get tyrranical with em.

@MatriXtyle I think by "reading and writing" they meant communication, which is needed to have proper relationships among other things. And history is extremely improtant because we have to learn from not only our mistakes, but the mistakes of others.
