Those were people who were biracials. Fair skin blacks actually have african features.

So to say even now when people ( white that is ) meet someone who is mix race and looks completely white, they are very much scared.I remember how my colleagues freaked it out when I told them soccer player ryan giggs was half black thinking they knew.And its not even a secret then his own dad was also a soccer player ( a famous one too ).

What a bomb shell, I have heard comments growing up about fair-skinned people of color passing as white people, it's part of American history that many would like to ignore.

@mtspinners: I read a lot of history (and a lot of books in general) and I'm aware that Blacks pass/passed for white (in the past and in the present). Also, I think it's really cute how the word demagogue has been used a lot in the media/press/political discourse lately and people (who don't know what it means but think they do) use it like it's in their lexicon.

let me get this straight: dickerson hoover and ivery hoover were related and both had children by this swedish woman named annie? How did that happen? And Hoover did claim that Elibeth Allen Hoover was his grand mother? That according to the white family too? Has Anybody asked that the bodies of Mazola and Ivery be exhumed to get a proper certification of death? DiD ivery fake his death to go away and pass for white?

@yerejay Not true, because just like white people today do not believe it, they did not want to believe it back then. Blacks of his day knew the truth. Why do you think Hoover collected so much nonsense about folks, that had nothing to do with criminal activity. He did that so he had a weapon to fire back with, should they expose his blackness. He did have a hatred of his own blackness. This fooled white people even more. I am sure if Frederick Douglas could have, he would of passed for white.
