A Bad Day

@tienshanman1 I fly all three: paragliders, hang gliders and sailplanes, and each are good in their own way. paragliders have a lot of advantages not offered by the other too (and vice versa).

@FutzAndTinker BS! I've flown hang gliders for 35 years and paragliders for 25, and there are lots of days that are actually more pleasant for paragliders than for hang gliders. There doesn't appear to be anything special about the wind/thermal conditions in the video - just a question of a pilot unskilled enough for the wing he is flying: which could easily happen just as much with a hang glider.
-
what wing he was flying?
-
Between :045 - 0:48 The wing told the pilot that it was going to go... Pilots ignored the signs and the wing went... Pilots Fault by not keeping pressure in wing. Pilot had 3 seconds to fix this and did not! No wonder why he tossed his laundry...

A reserve deployment is RARE with a hang glider but very common in paragliding. I'll stick to hang gliding...I like my chicken with bones! Glad to see this pilot made it down ok. Those would have been perfect conditions to fly in with a hang glider but questionable with a paraglider.

I love the way that he is so calm about it the whole way down. Even when he hits the ground. I rekon I'd be dropping nuggets as soon as i hit the turbulence.
-
I would be scared shitless to even be in one of those things

Fantastic Joe ! Welcome back on the ground. This is a good occasion for all of us to learn. Conditions are too bad to fly, turbulences. Technic to recover looks poor, exept for coolness. Do not move when hanging in the tree, Joe could have been severly wounded on the last 3 meters falldown. Always have a knife, a radio, a GPS and a reserve chute. Have a safe flight. The 747 as all those equipments plus cofee.

Shows what a waste of time these bagwings (or Medusas as the French so aptly call them)are. Hang gliders and sailplanes are the only way to fly!
It's NOT a negative spin, its a collapse caused by thermal activity with TOO LITTLE brake for recovery, resulting in a cravatte, wich caused the locked spiral. The pilot came down on his reserve chute!
