HIKE (Easy/Moderate) It was another beautiful day in PARADISE so we worked our way up to the tourist packed Manoa Falls which is almost a 1 mile hike each way. We then took the Aihualama Trail which is not traveled on by tourists but does start at the end of Manoa Falls where all the tourists cluster to. Aihualama Trail is about 3 miles each way and is VERY MUDDY and covered by an AMAZING bamboo Forest. We then took Pauoa Flats Trail which is only about a ½ mile to the top and ends with the pay off of Nuuanu valley. The total hike isn't bad and the MANY SWTICHBACK, I can't count how many, helps in making your journey up the mountain an easy one. The total hike will be about 8 miles and a total of 4-5 hours depending how long you stay at the Pauoa Flats/Nuuanu Valley Outlook, have lunch or if you choose to go a little further. If you go LEFT at the outlook, up a steep short ridge past a phone poll, there are GREAT VIEWS up there. If you choose to go RIGHT after a few more hours of VERY severe hiking it will take you to the peaks, K1 and K2. These two mountain points on Oahu are the tallest on the Ko'olau mountain range at over 3,000ft above sea level. Whatever you guys do be smart, hike with a partner and pack proper supplies. Food, Plenty of water or Gatorade in case you choose to keep hiking. Much Aloha all. See you out there!

  • Wade, i've never seen that waterfall before. Great video! Next time you go to a waterfall, why not plant some impatiens by the falls, and watch the waterfall, change into a beautiful rainbow of color, much like the "blue pools" in east Maui, close to Hana.

  • @hawaiidoves Sounds like a plan...may just do that. Hope you are well...Haven't seen you around...Next time you come By Z and Freds stop by...I live right under them now!

  • k1 and k2 might be the highest peaks on the ko'olaus, but i'm pretty sure mount ka'ala (4,025 ft) is the highest point on oahu..

  • @constancew Correct...I actually haven't climbed Ka'ala...only K1 and 2 of the Ko'olaus at 3,150 ft...I'll re-word my description. Shoots

  • @WAYDESWORLDHAWAII Here is what impatiens can look like, and they are easy to grow. You can just drop some seeds by a waterfall, and let mother nature do the rest! Here is a short video of our front yard, and I had just planted impatiens a few months prior...
