Lajamanu and the Police

In January 2008 a female police officer walked into a restricted area, where young sons were waiting to go through a Warlpiri initiation ceremony.

The young man the police were looking for was wanted for an unpaid fine for a minor traffic offence. In White culture it's the equivalent of police comming into a wedding ceremony to take away the best man for a minor offence. The police timing was wrong.
