Because of some popular demand, here is this battle royale between Lakers and Celtics. Many superstars and Hall of Fame players provide high quality play.

  • the 80s lakers celtics would absolutley demolish the celtics lakers of today

  • Was 6 years old back then, but man did Showtime EVER spoiled me, lol! Magic, Kareem, Worthy, AC, Bryon, Cooper, Rambis, and new addition Thompson against their No. 1 rivals of all time: the Celtics!!! Never gets old and for once I realize just how truly great these players were compared to what we have now...

  • Dirk Nowitzki is one of my favorite players bcuz his game is almost exactly identical to Larry Legend's

  • Legendary.

  • Yeah he was in my opinion the most underrated scorer ever. He averged 27 a game at times and could have easily been a 30ppg scorer over his prime if he was not on the same frontline as Bird, Parish, Maxwell, and then Walton. A true great really underrated. And behind MJ and Bird the toughest player I have seen, he played that enitre post season with a broken foot and the BAD BOYS were kicking it too!!!!!!!!

  • McHale was actually mentioned for MVP that year before he went down with the broken foot that would eventually ruined his career.

  • IT was not to do with gas it was to do with Injuries. When healthy they were the same great 86 team best in the league, but walton got crocked, Mchale broke his foot, Bird had a back injury that was bothering him all season. They were injured, if healthy they would have won the title again

  • I remember this game very well. Both terms had identical records coming in.

Boston was able to play its game the first 2/3 but then just ran out gas in the 2nd half, and it seemed the rest of their season slowly unraveled for there. While LA just got stronger the rest of the way.

    I miss these teams

  • The Lakers must have signed Mychal Thompson that very day, due to his jersey being 00 without the name on the back..

  • Oh and that Celtics squad wasn't half bad either. Still possessed one of the deadliest frontcourts in NBA history in Parish, McHale, and Bird as well as a very underrated backcourt in the late Dennis Johnson and Danny Ainge. As a team, very few played as tight and focused as this particular unit (especially during that '86 year; the last time they ever really went all the way in convincing fashion).
