AFE offers two different types of intakes. We offer a stage 1 and a stage 2 intake. And a stage 1 intake is basically going to be an intake itself. It is going to be just the box. What we call a stage 2 is the intake where it actually has a tube coming out and can vary in different sizes and lengths. That is what we call a stage 2. 00:23Review-AFE-Air-Intakes

Some of the features on an AFE intake are our one piece housing design, not using multiple pieces. Some designs out there you will see there will be three pieces of materials, they will be bolted together. We like to use a one piece housing. It is easier for the install. The other thing is that the base is powder coated. Some cases we offer an aluminum brushed lid. 00:47

The design we use in the intake tube is a precision molded, it is actually a rolla molded plastic. Another detail on the AFE intakes is you will see is the brass fittings so when you are screwing it in it is going to be directly nice and flush, clean not guessing where some holes are drilled on. The other thing is you are going to see where the molded for the air mass sensor map pieces are built. I will show you a couple of those. One you will see here on the tube is already positioned for you. Another feature we have on those is the hardware you can see here, we use a stainless steel button head bolts on all of our kits. The bracketry is built into the system on the intake it is not bolted on. That is going to cut down on the installation time also to make it easier for an installation. 01:41

On the one here you can see on this intake where it is built in there for the air mass sensor. In some cases where we offer an enclosed intake system, you will see that the ram air scoop is actually molded into the intake it is not an attached piece it is one. 02:03

  • hey just wondering if the afe intake will pass the smog test?.....i was told that they dont

  • @bolo65 Many of the AFE intake systems are not approved in California. They are vehicle specific and AFE tries to make some of their air intake systems legal in all 50 states, however, not all of their systems will pass the emissions test. If you visit etrailer(dot)com and use the fitguide to find an air intake system to fit your specific vehicle, it will say in the product description whether or not that particular system is legal to use in California.

  • @etrailertv ok thanks....i also heard that afe gives the carb exempt stickers...do you guys give that with the purchase of the afe intake?

  • @bolo65 I spoke with a customer service representative at AFE Power and he informed me that if you call him with the year, make, and model of your car, along with the specific AFE intake that you have installed, they can send you a carb exempt sticker.
