LOTS of Delta players used finger picks, but I'm with you.
That said, I don't think Beefheart's players could have done what they did without them.

Hey - good catch! I am siding with you on this one. Page was a fan of Fahey. And....if you really want to see another place that Pagey "borrowed" from for "In My Time of Dying," check out the video entitled: CANNED HEAT - Let's Work Together (1970) .....
Fast forward it to 1:25 and your jaw will drop, my friend. 1970 was way before the "Physical Graffiti" album was recorded, as you know, I'm sure. Let me know if your jaw dropped like mine did. ;-)

Nope, my jaw didn't drop at all. In fact, I doubt you know what you're talking about, newbie.

Genius. Sad he died in poverty, underrated & under-appreciated. Much respect.

i dunno why your comment had a thumb down... but i kinda agree. it's all a matter of preference though. i find fingerpicks more difficult to get used to and i rarely use regular picks anyways. and no elliott smith didn't use fingerpicks. pretty much exclusively used his hands, especially in his first 3 albums

dylan's got a great version too, sounds like a 1,000 year old slave and he's all of 19 when he recorded it.
