i think this is about his fiance and their breakup. The chorus symbolizes what Kanye feels and wants. He is still in denial and the versus of the songs are actually what he prays for. He fantasizes about being with her again but knows that it's impossible. The 808 kicks mixed with the beep also symbolize the heartbeat and sets the tone for the album. It's like he's in the hospital.then all of a sudden the beeps and 808s go away in the instrumental ending symbolizing that he died on the inside
