With the help of archive film, photographs, memorabilia and a rich variety of interviews, this souvenir film is a fitting tribute to the Bristol Bulldogs. Essential viewing for Speedway fans everywhere.
Speedway first came to Bristol on August 25th 1928, and the Kingswood based Douglas factory dominated the early years with their 'Dirt Track' model. Speedway circuits opened all over the country and the thrills and spills of this exciting new sport captured the imagination of thousands.
Team racing gradually evolved, and Bristol Bulldogs first took to the track in 1936. Just two years later, the team had ascended to Speedway's top division and stars such as Cordy Milne, Vic Duggan and Morian Hansen graced the Bulldogs' colours of Orange and Black.

I have this DVD & it's a great little look back at the old days of Bristol Speedway at Knowle Stadium & Eastville Stadium. I saw most matches at Eastville in the 1977+78 seasons & well remember the crash by Bob Coles, shown in this clip & it was even shown on World of Sport at the time because it was so spectacular. We've had no speedway in Bristol now for 31 years, but if the proposed track at Avonmouth ever comes off, it'll be great for the city.
