OpenSocial Specification: What's Next for OpenSocial
David Glazer (Google)

OpenSocial is an open specification established by a group of social sites and application developers. While OpenSocial version 0.7 is being rolled out on several large social networking sites, the specification is evolving to include more features useful to social application developers.

This session will cover the most interesting features that are discussed in the specification working group to be included in the next versions of OpenSocial, like an OpenSocial template language, and the OpenSocial RESTful API.

  • when John started his presentation ..i began to fall into a sleep mode all i could hear was "blah blah blah" bah bablala....you need to take a speech course or just slow down

  • Hi5 and MySpace containers have already implemented many of the features in 0.8 specification: such as, lifestyle and presence. There was nothing exciting or particularly new about this API.

  • I love OpenSocial And I am excited to know What's up next.

  • True. It's not the most awesome talk ever. I just wanted to say however that I respect Google for letting its developers be the face of the company. Most companies would do their presentations with a bunch of hyped up marketing faces. I much prefer to see the developers on stage no matter how socially awkward they may be. At least you're hearing from someone who genuinely understands and cares about the application.

  • spot on!!! This guy is so boring in the beginning!

  • The first question comes from Newton Chan - a wizard at JS. He teaches at Evergreen College, Bay Area.
