@1upyermom Gotta? No, you don't "gotta". There are two auction houses, real money auction house where you can buy or sell items for real money, and there is also the normal gold auction house. All the better items will most likely land in the RMAH, but you can just sell gold for real money and use that money to buy the item (you've suddenly used gold in a real money auction house). To make things better, no RMAH in hardcore mode, so go do that if you're unhappy.

Of course Blizzard doesn't mention they make money off the Auction House when people use the real money one. They take a percentage.

@ExaltesGaming D3 is different, gold has value now, auction house making trading more possible, the game is supported. There shouldn't be any need to have RMAH, as third party selling should be dealt with due to game being supported. Blizzard doesn't have a great track record for dealing with these issues. Selling for cash will probably be one sided, either it won't work or everyone will be doing it, which could lure others or even force (Item depending) WoW has 2 AH's and that doesn't work.

@ExaltesGaming Real money shouldn't be used in any game, outside is generally fine, i.e subscriptions, purchase of the game itself, vanity pets and mounts, etc. The third party sellers is a big problem, and blizzard does little to nothing to deal with them, I think D2 became unsupported in 1.10, only new patch updates from that point on. D2 Gold had no value, trading was restricted, and game being unsupported, its gives third parties good positions to sell for real money, but D3 is different.
