  • I'm having real trouble getting the previous frames to remain static. They continue to play following the motion of the following frames.

Is there an option I'm missing to prevent this from happening and just have static frames?

  • thats strange... do you have all the same parameters set as in the tutorial?

  • Yep, it's been buggin me for ages.

  • hmm, have you tried resetting preferences? it seems like it shouldn't be animating the echos... sounds like a glitch..

  • If by clicking reset above the effect, I've tried it. Maybe I just have a special echo effect instead of the normal one lol.

  • hold control, alt and shift at the same time while starting up AE... that trashes the preferences file.

  • @DaveLowe28 - I know this is a pretty late reply but I've been having the same problem. Did you ever manage to solve it? The only way I've managed to do it in CS5 is to have the echo time set to 0.02 or lower. Not sure if this is a glitch with CS5 or not. Hopefully this answer can help someone out.

  • @BlackMagnumFilms Wait, I'm an idiot, I didn't use a greenscreen. My bad! Thank you, it works.

  • This doesn't quite work for me, when I click Composite In Front it stays the same. Could it be because my camera quality's not great?

  • Your PC seems to be running slow. What are the specs u got?

  • you need to merge the BAT. virus (windows) with the echo tool, to get desired effect

  • This is probably a really simple question, but what did you do to the background to make it black?

Also, thanks for this video because I'm using your steps for a project in school

  • @MissCMDProductions You probably didn't render it with an alpha channel. If you have After Effects, it is probably better just to do all your keying, as well as effect right in that app in one project.

  • I tried this effect using a clip i shot in front of my green screen. i keyed it using final cut pro then i exported it into a quicktime. I imported it into after effects and it did not work at all. Then i went to that website you got you clip from and it worked perfectly. What is wrong with the clip i shot? What did i do wrong?

  • i thought it looked better the way Mystery Guitar Man Did it Less Echo frames make it 200 instead.
