We tried this at school and this is a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME!!!!
In my opinion this will make us more stupid and give other people bigger ability to manipulate us.

are they learning any concepts here? Short answer is no. No common core standards are being addressed here. These children are not learning how to think. They are learning how to be manipulated.

You do this only at certain times, when you want to teach important vocabulary and concepts.

What happens when one of them gets stick of doing hand gestures, and tells the teacher to stick it? Do they have a plan for this situation? Where do all those kids go?

I tried this and it works! My students were doing their homework using the gestures to help and I had parents wondering what was going on but we all concluded that it helped everyone get the right answers on material the students were struggling with! I love WBT!

I have to agree. When I first saw this kid of teaching method I thought, "this will never work" "They're zombies" "I couldn't follow along if I was one of those students" but the more you learn about it and the more you watch you start to understand that it DOES work.

If "cheerleading" results in great learning, what's the problem?
If "cheerleading" results in straight "A"s, what's the problem?
and
If "cheerleading" is engaging, fun, and educational, what's the problem?
I thought it was 'creepy' too at first; but when I look closely, I see massive engagement, I see learning by teaching, I see positive peer interaction, I see an instructor teaching and students learning, I see success.
I just don't know how the students or instructors can maintain it.
