Sunny Savage gets a lesson in harvesting, opening and eating coconuts from Dave Elberg. Elberg is the owner/operator of Pure Life Palm Trimming, a spikeless palm trimming business on the island of Maui in Hawaii. We see how to safely climb the coconut palm and then differentiate between young coconuts with just water on the inside, to ones with sweeter water and spoon meat, and finally coconuts with fully formed shells and thick meat that's good for making coconut milk. Tune in for part 2 to get some ideas on how to use coconut in the kitchen.
