Thanks for the information. I can't believe that some people have been dogging you for telling the truth. Things like public urination are things that most women (and quite a few men) need to know about before coming to another country.

I live in Cuenca, and i can assimilate to most of your concerns in this video, nonetheless i believe it is crucial to take into consideration the fact that some of the things that you have mentioned are part of the culture it self. Cultures are meant to be embraced. Yes there are a lot of differences between the lifestyle in the US and Cuenca, but that is what makes each place its own. That is just my opinion. Most of your videos are quite informative for expants. Great Job.

Nice videos and very informative. I am Ecuadorian and my wife is from R.I. I haven't show her Ecuador yet and I hope this year we will go if things gets better here in USA. It scares her a little bit to move to another country but thanks to your videos she is getting more interested.
Thanks again for taking the time to post the videos. We appreciate it.

Staring??...that happens in every small town, that includes USA when people see people from other cultures.

One of the biggest problem moving to a new country is culture shock. Learning the good things and the bad things helps mitigate culture shock. There is no way to avoid culture shock, we can only be prepared for it and accept it. Getting the truth from Expats living there helps.
Thanks!

what is an expat by the way?ive read your blog(i like your blog by the way.ive lived down in guayaquil for about threes years so i know where your coming from)and that word pops up alot.
Ecuador isn't perfect but neither is the U$A. We visited there a year ago and loved it. We saw Quito, Salinas, Guayaquil, and Cuenca. The people are really great. We never noticed any staring at all. Cuence is loaded with gringos, Canadians, Europeans. The people were all very nice to us. The weather in the highlands is chilly in the morning but warms up quickly as the air is thin. Fruits are cheap and luscious with all kinds that you never see here in St Louis. Take tours and see it all.

@deenie1219
The staring is more prevalent once you get out of the city center where all the tourists go.

Hello guys, I have been following your postings for a while now and have enjoyed very much your videos. I am from Ecuador and married
to a New Yorker, my wife have already been in Ecuador 4 times and
she likes the highlands much more than the cost but she've never been in Cuenca. Thanks to your videos she has an idea of what to expect if we move to Cuenca. We are considering moving by the end of 2012
if we get to sell our house here in Cincinnati. Thank you again.
