Los Angeles production company No Restrictions Entertainment has completed filming for the newest in a series of seven social issue films. "Mother's Red Dress" is a feature-length film that includes scenes shot in Upland and Riverside. Filmmakers hope it will bring awareness to the issue of domestic abuse.
The film tells the story of a young man who struggles to leave a broken home plagued by alcohol and domestic abuse. He ends up meeting and falling in love with a young woman who has also had a difficult past. Several scenes from the film were shot at UC Riverside and a Brockton Avenue home. Riverside was identified as a "small town outside of Los Angeles," said Edgar Michael Bravo, the film's director and writer.
The company is producing one social issue film every year for a total of seven. "One Hour Fantasy Girl" was produced in 2008 and tells the story of a young runaway who struggles to support herself in Los Angeles. "The Magic Stone" was produced in 2009 to highlight the issue of homelessness and includes scenes that were filmed in Upland and Ontario areas.
Bravo wrote and directed all three films which he said he usually bases on people he knows or his own experiences.
