The Sanskrit word, matsya, means fish. The Fish Pose (Matsyasana) creates a great expansion and stretching of the chest, stimulating both the heart and throat chakras, as well as relieving upper respiratory congestion and benefiting the heart. Additionally, the sinus are drained and opened from the inversion of the head and the thyroid and parathyroid glands are stimulated.
