A very large hickory fell and mangled this medium sized hickory tree. I decided to try my new Laplander saw, my brother gave me for Christmas. It cut quickly through the outside white wood until it got to the center which was a dark brown dry hard wood. I cut all around the tree but the blade began to pinch so I had to use a hatchet to remove some wood. When almost through I decided to just push on the tree and try to crack it. The tension from the other tree pushed the smaller tree backward and it fell on my foot. A mistake I will not make again. It stung for a minute but no damage. Near Ormond Beach, FL.
