Two Reticulated Giraffe Calves were born at the SF Zoo in early May. This episode of Behind the Scenes includes video of the first birth, as well as footage of our second calf nursing.

@bulby1994 No, not bad parenting, her instincts tell her to do that to jolt the baby into moving to get up on it's feet as soon as possible. In the wild, a tiger or lion or other predator isn't going to wait for the baby to slowly get up, so its best the mother jolt the baby to get it up on it's feet asap. She didn't hurt the baby at all.
