A video that describes how Monolithic Ecoshells can and will be used to help build houses for people in developing nations. Specifically we will be using this technology in Haiti in the coming months, together with One Dome at a Time, Domes for the World, and The Monolithic Dome Institute.
Absolutely marvelous work by the way!

What about a coating made from the hemp material they use for car body panels?

Comment about coatings:
I just started a topic on the MDI forum under [Building Monolithic Domes / Construction] regarding this novel surface coating "Surfaproof". Could that be the solution ?

These alternative reinforcements sound fantastic. Could you comment on cost and availability ? From the video I assume that they are not significant issues.
Regarding external covering, there were discussions on the MDI forum several years ago about using glazed tiles. They should last for a long time, as they are not carbon-based, degraded by sunlight. A technique for overlapping tiles (shingles) could be developed, resembling reptile skin. Mass production of standard tiles is required.
