The waterboys could pretty much replicate the studio version live, this, well this is just meant to be a special version. I love the studio version but also love this for being the same song sung by the same band, but yet so different.
Here's a late post. I used to want to hear a song reproduced like it was done in the album I bought. But now I appreciate the moment of each musicians performance, even as wonderfully raw as it is presented. I am a musician and have recorded songs that I have tried to recreate in the studio but the moment/vibe just couldn't be captured. I enjoyed this performance. Also, this performance is without Karl Wallinger, (Keys/vocals) and would indeed change the live performance as well.
check him out doing this at a school assembly on an old piano and a guy on piccolo, cool as.
