The Bucks top draft pick is expected to be in Milwaukee tomorrow.
The Bucks say Yi Jianlian (EE' jee-AHN-lee-AHN) will arrive from China and participate in practice on Thursday. Yi's status had been up in the air after his handlers tried to keep him from being drafted by Milwaukee, which picked him sixth overall.
Yi also had responsibilities with Team China that kept him from starting training camp with the Bucks today.
The 7-foot Chinese power forward is expected to compete with Charlie Villanueva to be a starter.
Despite some coaching and roster changes in recent seasons, the Bucks open camp with a nucleus of eight returning players. Forward Desmond Mason is among eight new players, even though it may not seem like he's new.
Mason spent the last two seasons with the Hornets, but as a free agent, returned to the Bucks this summer.
The longest-tenured player on the roster is guard Michael Redd, who is entering his eighth season with the Bucks.
