The American Civil Liberties Union of Washington has launched a multimedia public-education campaign on the country's marijuana laws and their impact on taxpayers, communities and those arrested.

As part of this effort, travel guru Rick Steves hosts this infomercial-style panel discussion produced by the Washington ACLU.

  • @jenn1ifer Obviously, you don't know shit about marijuana.

What other subjects are you ignorant on, yet insist on running your mouth and making a fool of yourself?

  • Proud of your ignorance, aren't you?

  • ILikePeanutButter9, so you see "hate for their country" on the faces in the audience. You can't be serious.

I was IN that audience, and it was one of the friendliest, most positive, most accepting groups in which I've ever had the privilege of belonging.

"Making our country and government look stupid"? No. It's the irrational pot laws -- and, well, maybe people like yourself, with knee-jerk prejudice reactions -- are what make our country and government look stupid.

  • If marijuana is basically harmless, then how do you present "both sides" of that? Pretend that it's harmful? That's pandering to those who would have us fear.

"Dangers of addiction"? Marijuana has repeatedly been shown in studies to be one of the least addicting substances known. And those of us who have used it know that to be true.

"What's the point of all this?" The POINT is that it is WRONG to arrest people and lock them away for making a personal lifestyle choice to use a harmless herb.

  • Prohibition is Sticking your Head in the Sand, & expecting everyone do follow suit & do the same.

70 Years of Scientific Research(sometimes suspect) has only proven the benifits and natural synergy with the Human Brain on a molecular level, To my knowledge not one credibal scientific piece of literature has ever come forth detailing factual negative problems with cannabis consumption,Unheard of for other substances.

Time to end the longest running bad joke ever.

    time for the Demand!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @docrw You sound like a christian to me. At 2:55 that racist bitch may have brought race for the first time in the conversation but christianity is affecting all of this. I don't even use marijuana and I agree with this! Christianity has more negative affects on the world that marijuana.

  • Oh my fuckin god! As a Cherokee Indian-Irish 19 year old male I will say this! At 2:55 that was the first time that anybody brought up race into this conversation! You want to just start a point the finger at the white people shit you racist bitch! You look like Big Bird on Sesame Street by the way woman!!!

  • my ideas.. talk to your kids the most honest and understandable explanation of cannabis and your guidlines, that, if they they honestly want to use cannabis for medical reasons you both talk about it to see if it will be best, if they want to do it recreationaly and to talk about moderation, amounts, safety, caution, and all that. this is serious to people with an alternative view, an acceptance of cannabis. i would love if i had a kid who accepted cannabis and used it properly at a certain time

  • America is dead.

  • @docrw HELLO TROLL!!! If your smart like you think you are you should know im not talking about the Type of Troll in fairytales but something else TROLOLOLOL

  • @jenn1ifer Cannabis is an anti-depressant, anti-psychotic, it promotes braincell growth via neurogenesis, makes people peaceful thus preventing violent crime (For a comparisson, look at alcohol, which sometimes causes violent crime), it kills cancer cells (tobacco promotes the growth of cancer), shrinks tumours (has saved many lives already in men, women, and CHILDREN by shrinking their tumours or killing their cancer), has never killed anyone before, and if vaporized is not harmful in the least

  • Legalization of Hemp and Cannabis would fix the deficit and the health issues in this country.

  • Anyone who has traveled as much as Rick Steves has and has learned well how the world works knows the truth about how absurd the War on Drugs has become. It was born of corruption, racism and lies and should do the noble thing and fall on it's own sword.

  • The man to the right at 9:24!!

    What's up with him?

    Alien Invaders?

  • there isn't one medical reason for illegalising it.... none.
