Luciano Pavarotti sings "O Paradiso" from Meyerbeer's L'Africaine - Poliedro de Caracas 1991

This performance belongs to the third or second time Luciano came to Caracas, being 1973 the year he made his debut at the Municipal Theatre as Edgardo and Rodolfo, joined by the way by the italian soprano Ileana Sinnone who sang the role of Mimi.

In this time he had the opportunity to sing at Caracas "Poliedro" with fourteen thousand people cheering and applauding him under the baton of Leone Magiera and the versatile and exquisite flautist Andrea Griminelli.

When the applause break out at 3:13, it really feels like one is reliving the excitement of the premiere of this work. The great tenor in the spotlight, hypnotizing the huge crowd into applause. I personally enjoy this aria as much as anything from Gounod or any French composer.
