@angela10336 It is standard practice to immunise thrice during the first 6 months of life and at age 4 years. Sweden did discontinue its vaccination program, but reinstated it after the incidence of pertussis quickly rose. Please don't peddle your uninformed slander where others can read it.
@jasonsan10 The vaccine is effective for between 6 and 10 years, but this assumes earlier immunisation at the ages of 2, 4 and 6 months, and at age 4 years. If you've not yet been immunised, or have concerns, speak to your doctor.
National statistics for England, Australia and the US show how whooping couch was already on the dramatci decline before the vaccine was introduced! The vaccine has had no impact!
In 1979, Sweden abandoned the whooping cough vaccine due to its ineffectiveness. Out of 5,140 cases in 1978, it was found that 84% had been vaccinated three times! [British Medical Journal, 283:696-697, 1981]
I was diagnosed as a younge child with whooping cough, as an adult i have had a bad cough when ever i get a cold chocking, whooping, and the relentless cough it is exasting i have even lost my voice, could it be pertussis?
Whoever made colin sick was never notified and may have contaminated others. He was taken to the local hospital where he was misdiagnosed and sent home. 5 days later he was diagnosed with pertussis and sent to a childrens hospital where he died. Had the first hospital spotted the disease when they had the chace, Colin could have been treated early and survived.Early diagnosis is crucial and could mean life and death for the child. Thanks for helping spread the word!
He was 1 of only 15 children that died in the state of Pennsylvania due to pertussis on 2002. The whole family was tested and it was determined he didnt catch it from any of us.
