This guy must of been stopped before and an offence was committed, drugs speeding or whatever and that makes the car a target on the police computer as I know it from what people tell me, so police then do more checks on it than normal to make sure complying with the law etc, if ail good after that then they leave you alone and all this could of been done and dusted if he had got out the car and proved he is a good man and no criminal etc..but now with all this happening just makes him look bad.

They can only search the vehicle if they have good reason you are carrying drugs, or weapons, or stolen property, that law doesn't come under 163 of the road traffic act 1988, it comes under section 60, of the Criminal Justice and Public order act 1994.and they didn't state that to him it would be unlawful. you may have 2. weeks to get your vehicle tax but that doesn't mean you can drive it around on the roads it renders your insurance useless. and it is an offence to drive it.

Wow, Is it not still an offence to not display road tax? If they have 'reasonable' suspicion to search you or the car,I thought they were allowed to use force to evict you from the motorcar.I  also couldn't find anything in 163 which states you have to exit the motorcar.The other thing is isn't this obstruction by not allowing the officer to fulfil his duties? The issue I have is yes you don't have to consent to anything that they do, but that still doesn't stop them from implementing it.
