hmmm...I suppose you could use this in making a hat, but you'd probably need to do additional gathering, as it is really meant to gradually decrease as you BO...not a complete gather...does this help?

the loom is it pin wheel i would like to buy the loom but dont no the name of the loom you got.

I just began trying out the knitting loom and am making a hat w/ a visor. I had to flat knit and decrease for the visor. I think i did ok cause it does look like a visor-so far so good- however i got to the finish at top of the hat which is flat and directions want me to do "wedge decrease" but its confusing to follow. Have you any advise where I could get easier directions for this? Thanks.
