In this film, Vincent D'Onofrio was Orson Welles during 1 minute and 50 seconds and Tim Burton had him dubbed by Maurice LaMarche, who isn't even credited for his performance.

Unhappy with his work on this film, Vincent wrote and filmed "Five Minutes Mr. Welles" in 2005, as a confrontation with himself through Welles' character. (At least, that's what I see in this film.)

With: Johnny Depp (Ed Wood), Vincent D'Onofrio and Maurice LaMarche (Orson Welles)

  • "...but, they want Charlton Heston to play Mexican."

    LOL

  • @Cleon29Warrior

... and actually, he did play the said Mexican! :)

  • @MsAndromede I think he wasn't bad. He wasn't superb, but he was very satisfying.

  • @Cleon29Warrior

True! Whatever we may think of Charlton Heston, he wasn't a bad actor and he was able to handle such a paradoxical situation. As far as I remember, he was even given some freedom by Welles. There's a scene where he is in a car having a conversation with a fellow actor and they had to shoot it as a full sequence and apparently Welles allowed him to do it on his own.

Oh, I need to dig up my dvd of A Touch of Evil and watch the "making of" the film. ;)

  • Wow he looks exactly like Orson Welles!

  • @Paperbagman555

No, he doesn't but it doesn't matter either. ;)

  • The dubbing of Orson Welles is pretty obvious. Notice how there's no ambient noise from his dialogue in the recording.

  • @jerico641 Yes, I'm 100% sure. It's in several of his biographies, it's also in the audio recordings of the extensive interviews conducted with him by Peter Bogdonavich.

  • I beg to differ, he does look a great deal like Orson.

  • Master voice actor Maurice LaMarche as the voice of Orson Wells!

  • "Can we hurry this up? I've got a fish stick commercial in an hour!"

  • @Cleon29Warrior Honestly, he was great too! Touch of Evil is my favorite Welles film and while the man himself is great in it, I think Heston does the best performance in the film!

  • @MsAndromede and funny thing to put in the movie if you think of the fact that wells played othello

  • This scene still gives me chills.

  • Are you pondering what I'm pondering, Ed?

  • @coleseidl

    Are you sure about that?
