In January 2010, a 7.0 earthquake devastated Haiti. The international community, including one out of two Americans, pledged billions of dollars in aid, yet the nation has seen little improvement. Three hundred thousand died, nearly two million live in ramshackle tent cities. Cholera has swept through the population, killing thousands and hospitalizing many others. Only about 2% of the rubble has been cleared.

Is this what you expected when you pledged your aid dollars? Independent journalists Film@11.tv journeyed to Haiti in November 2010 to see the situation for themselves, and dig into the burning question: what happened to all that money?

  • Poor people. I can't imagine the way they live...it's unfair. Grab the damn money and help them. USaid is shameful..oh my God we need justice in this world. I'm white european and I hate the racism behind this. If this happened in Europe people would be helped a lot better and it disgusts me. We are all humans...they deserve a dignifiying life. Jesus!

  • Better to send and give money to a friend.

  • Okay, this is how it works. The NGO director has to spend the budgeted money in order to get at least the same amount cause if they don't they will not have the budget the next year to support their staff. This is how it's done. Also, the reason why it's taking so long is most likely because they have to advertise contracts for the best bidder and that can be a long process. That in my opinion is probably why some NGOs have a specific name brand. That my friend is called a contract.

  • That jewish redcross took all the money and everybody was a sucka enough to fall for the trick after seeing what happened in Katrina. No money will ever reach any of these black people are you people stupid???
