Alice Springs, in the Northern Territory, is Australia's Aboriginal art capital. The town's thriving art galleries are filled with authentic pieces that interpret the landscape, demystify Aboriginal customs and invoke the spirit of the indigenous community.

Some of the region's indigenous communities are open to the public, and art enthusiasts can visit working artists to get a real sense of where the story on the canvas comes from.

Desert Mob is an annual art event where artists with the DesArt community association come together to display and sell their best works. Everything from canvasses, beanies, baskets, bush toys and bark paintings are on show.
